ISPCP Statement on whois Staff Overview Report

12 October 2007

The ISP Constituency has prepared a statement on the recently released whois Staff Overview Report.

The ISPCP has followed the debate on WHOIS, throughout the proceedings involving both the WHOIS Task Force and the WHOIS Working group, with close interest and active participation. The issues that have been debated and re-debated over several years tend to expose some rather inevitable conclusions.  The ISPCP statement details those conclusions and reiterates that the ISPCP believes that promoting a GNSO resolution to move OPOC to an implementation phase is not appropriate and fails to consider the very broad set of concerns raised by the community at large.

A public copy of the ISPCP statement is available here.  The Staff Report on whois is available here.  The ISPCP has published its comments in the whois comment forum.

The Staff Implementation notes for the WHOIS working group report are also available: http://gnso.icann.org/drafts/gnso-whoiswg-report-staff-implementation-notes-11oct07.pdf.
